Fern Wood Computer Services Code of Conduct Regarding Project Management:

 

Fern Wood Computer Services hereinafter called FWCS.  Address being: P.O. Box 808, Belpre, OH 45714 states the following as being a code of conduct and terms of service.

Fern Wood being the sole proprietor of FWCS since 2000, has engaged in business using confidential verbal contracts with all clients.  FWCS employees have limited authority to engage in such practices.

Objectives: To build lasting relationships with clients based on fair and honest pricing. To be familiar with each client’s technical needs and personality that meets those needs.  FWCS will build strong relationships with colleagues in the field.

 

Goals:

All efforts will be made to secure clients that can utilize IT project management.  FWCS will at it’s on discretion take on simple clients repair jobs or media creation but the purpose of FWCS is to be a lasting IT solution.  Therefore it is important to keep client based concentrated in area(s) of client activity. If FWCS is asked to take on a project in another city or state, it will, evaluate the area for other potential clients and will not agree to any contract that it feels will yield one client in said area.
FWCS is a total IT solution. From new construction to revamp of old services it’s intent is to cover all things related to technology.  In some instances, FWCS, at its discretion will outsource components of a project to insure timely and stable delivery.

 

Specifics on Terms of Service:

Web Site Services:  It is expected and FWCS goal to refrain from simply building a Web site. This is not in line with our overall goal of building a lasting relationship. To date we have not accepted this kind of work.  If you would like to discuss this type of service, please contact us.

 Basic outline of how we handle Web site clients and billing:

  • Flat Rate Project Price: This is done with some expectation of further hourly or project income from the client. It is geared to allow the client a smaller startup cost in a project.  At the time of project start, more plans are made to extend the contract into more Web site work or other areas of IT. Commonly clients will one or both of the following: Continue with FWCS for Web updates, or a monthly IT maintenance contract. Flat Rate Project Rates vary on size and type of project
  • Flat Rate or Hourly Non-Project Price: If the client will not have a continued relationship with FWCS, the Web site will be billed at hourly rate or after some negotiating the client and FWCS may come to a flat rate that reflects a comparable rate to hourly

Breach of Verbal Contract: If any client is in breach of verbal contract, all Project pricing becomes null and void and an hourly rate applies.

 

IT Project management: When FWCS is contracted to oversee a project  all hours are billable and the following applies:

  • Project Rate Hours : When a client enters into a contract for all IT consideration, it is understood that FWCS will see that project to completion and if discussed, a continuing relationship going forward.  Hours accumulated toward a completion of an IT project will be at project rate. This rate assumes that the project will come to completion. This understanding allows FWCS, at its discretion to adjust some hours to what best fit the client and it’s project, as the project looks at the end of planning and work. It is understood that the future of each project may have volatile components and that billing for hours can only occur as the project starts to come to a close.  Projects involving many aspects will be billed weekly when said project is within one month of completion.  Because of its specific goal nature, all travel and labor the day of travel will be due and payable at regular hourly rate on that day.

Breach of contract: If any client is in breach of contract for Project Management all hours will be billed at regular hourly rate.

 

Regular IT work: As with other efforts we strive build lasting relationships with clients, but we still take on average jobs

  • Flat Rate Virus Removal:   Viruses removed at a flat rate
  • Flat Rate Windows Reinstall:  Install Windows (your CD) at a flat rate.
  • Hourly Work: Some work cannot be defined with a flat rate, in those instances a regular hourly rate.
  • Networking:  Networking carries another type of hourly rate. We, at times, prefer to outsource networking.

 

 

 

Breach of Contract:

Clients are in breach of contract if any of the following occur:

  • Any copyrighted work is altered without consent.
  • Any job that has been promised to FWCS is given to another company or person during project tieimeline
  • IT decisions are made solely by the client that adversely affect outcome of the project.
  • Client’s refusal to pay in a timely manner.
  • Disclosure of any trade secrets, including project price is given to persons deemed as competition to FWCS. 
  • If client engages in immoral or illegal conduct that would cause some public damage to FWCS image.
